The greatest depth measured was 35 meters. In winter, under good conditions, the ice is prepared for skating (at your own risk). In the vicinity, you will find grassy meadows covering 4,000 square meters. A pleasant bonus is a well-stocked beach buffet. A holiday at Lunzer See doesn&#8217;t just offer you a stay at one emerald lake, but at three. It&#8217;s no wonder that the tour around these three lakes in the Lunz am See area is known as the 3-lake walk.<\/p>\n<p>A walk around the first lake, Lunzer See, will take you approximately 1.5 hours, covering about 4 kilometers with an elevation gain of 50 meters. It is easy and suitable for almost everyone. Not all paths are paved; with a stroller, you can go as far as the terrain allows. The spring-fed Mittersee lake was formed by a landslide and is predominantly shallow. The deepest point in the lake is stated to be 3 meters. A strong current of spring water flows through the lake, and because the water does not warm up for too long, it maintains an almost year-round temperature of around 7 degrees Celsius.<\/p>\n<p>A noticeably steeper ascent awaits you to Lake Obersee, reaching an altitude of 1,113 meters. As a reward, romantic views of the surrounding mountains await you. On the southern and western shores, you&#8217;ll find peat bogs and shifting moss carpets. The lake is 797 meters long and 15 meters deep. In winter, it&#8217;s not uncommon for more than 3 meters of snow to fall here. This 3-lake trip will take you approximately 6 hours, and the total length is just under 19 kilometers. This challenging hike requires approximately 11 hours, so pack plenty of liquids and a large snack. The descent from the mountain then leads via Herrenalm, Obersee, Mittersee back to Lake Lunz.
